Stepping out of your comfort zone is scary. Being the same and not developing into your true potential is even scarier. Making the decision to grow yourself requires awareness of where you’re at, a vision for who you want to become, and a plan to move your life forward. What makes growth possible in your life starts with the DECISION. Every moment of our lives we can make the DECISION to TAKE ACTION in the direction we want to go or we decide to not take action on the things that we know and feel we should do.
What makes you, you?
It all starts with you. Who are you? What are you about? What do you stand for? What makes you, you? How do you treat people? How do you respond to challenges? What things do you allow to stop you from being the best version of you? What people or things bring out the best in you?
Thinking about those thoughts might be exciting, scary, or disappointing. However, allowing yourself to ask yourself those hard questions, opens up the opportunity to see the vision of something greater than now. If you don’t like you who are, you can always change and be the person you’ve always wanted to become. If you like where you’re at and the direction your life is going, what will allow you to take it to the next level? It all starts with your awareness of where you’re truly at and having the vision of who, what, and where you want to be.
What’s your vision?
Who do you want to be? Where do you want to live? What type of health do you want have? What type of relationships do you want? What things do you want to accomplish? What are your strengths? What type of lifestyle do you want to live? What experiences would you like to have?
Having vision and an understanding that the near sighted thoughts and actions affect the development of the thoughts and the actions you take in the future allow you to be diligent in the activities you take on a moment by moment basis. Take a moment to truly write down the vision for your life and who you are in that process. It takes those thoughts out of your head, allows you to see yourself as the person you’ve always wanted to be. It’s like reading that novel. The story is told in a way that you can vividly see whats happening as it is right in front of you. It becomes exciting!
The awareness and the vision that you have will always be just that without a plan to take action on the things you like or don’t like about yourself and the vision you see for yourself.
“Vision without action is a daydream. Action without vision is a nightmare.” – Japanese Proverb
What’s your plan?
You don’t need to have all the answers to your plan to move your life in a positive direction. You need a plan to take action on a daily basis. A plan to surround yourself with good energy. A plan to show gratitude and appreciation to the people and things around you. A plan to wake up early. A plan to eat healthier. A plan to move your career forward. Each one requires a plan. They might have their own set of challenges and obstacles. The beauty is that you have the ability to create and direct your life in the directions you want to take it.
Challenge yourself!
I challenge you to truly take a step back and appreciate yourself for the person you are. Acknowledge the great and the not so great. Grow your greatness and water your weakness. The grass isn’t greener on the other side, its greener where you water it. Be aware, have a vision, make a plan, and take action!
